8/18 Leaving London

Today is my last day in London. My suitcases are half-packed, my room is a mess, and my head feels even messier. This city has given me so much; sometimes it wrapped me in its arms, sometimes it hit me straight in the face. Here, I learned how to breathe again, how to write again, how to believe again. My friends stood by me, and in late-night conversations we laughed until we cried, and we laid out the darkest pieces of ourselves without shame. Often I felt alone here, but at the same time, I felt like I belonged. And now, I’m carrying that feeling of belonging with me as I move on.

Tomorrow, a world tour begins. It’s not a carefully scheduled tour, it’s more like a journey to hunt for inspiration. I don’t know which city or which street will whisper something to me, or which stranger’s face will hand me a song. The only thing I know for sure is that many of the tracks for Blizzard From Salem will be born along the way. I want to dive into the unknown, brush against the lives of others even for just a fleeting moment, and turn those moments into songs. That’s what I’m chasing.

There are already two songs I’m deeply proud of: Placeholder and Star Witness. Placeholder is like a diary of confessions, written directly out of my wounds. Star Witness is the opposite: sharp, fiery, defiant. It’s a challenge thrown at the world, at the system, at everyone who turned their back on me. When you put the two together, you can see what Blizzard Machineheart really means both wound and fire, both silence and scream.

Now I’m taking one last look at London. My heart feels heavy, but in a sweet way. This city gave me a second chance, and I’ll answer back with my songs.
