It was one of those days where nothing seemed to happen. Sun had received a message from the captain of the Shanghai team, which she was proudly part of, calling her up for the next match. She packed her bag quickly and booked her usual hotel, so technically, the rest of the day was free. Haircare? Skincare? Go for a run in the park near home? Endless options, zero decisions.

Before she knew it, she was sprawled on the couch scrolling through her feed. Between random videos and travel posts, a banner caught her eye: RPA Phantoms of the Bund Halloween Party! For some reason, she clicked without a second thought. A bit unusual for her — she’d never been one for big parties (even though she’d faced crowds and performed on stage with the band). Maybe it was time to relax, celebrate recent victories, do something out of the ordinary.

Shanghai had always held a special place in her heart. The city looked like it was pulled straight out of a sci-fi movie: skyscrapers draped in neon lights, silent cars gliding down wide avenues, giant screens lighting up the night like it was daytime. But there were also hidden corners — narrow alleys filled with the smell of street food, bustling markets, ancient temples standing in stark contrast to the futuristic landscape. The perfect blend of old and new.

With her attendance confirmed, she decided to put on some music and tackle at least the first two items on her list. She was excited — and that felt good.
