To whom it may concern
Many, many years ago, my grandmother fell in love with a young man.
He was very charming, lovable and cheerful. At first, she enjoyed life with him very much. She looked forward to adventures together every day.
But at some point over time the tide turned. He became more and more demanding. He wanted things from her that she wasn't prepared to give.
Phone numbers, email addresses and all sorts of details. When she wouldn't give him these things, he became more and more jealous, more and more demanding and life with him was no longer nice.
My grandmother wanted to end the relationship as friends. This hurt him so much that he bit around like a beaten dog. He insulted my grandmother and threatened her. My grandmother was completely terrified. She didn't know what threat were just his hatred and hurt and which threats could really have serious consequences for her.
He probably didn't mean it all that seriously. I don't know. But the fact is that my grandmother was psychologically abused and bullied by him as a result.
No one should do that to another person. This is where the line is drawn. No matter how hurt we are, we must never, really never, threaten, intimidate or blackmail other people. It's sad that something like this has to be mentioned. We have to accept a no, even if it is difficult for us. Because NO means NO.
