✘ Good news.
He longed for the lost feeling, that sudden effervescence of creativity that drove him to write after a surprising idea, also known as
inspiration. When was the last time he felt that way? When was the last time he wrote a song?
It had been a long time, but he remembered exactly the name of the last one:
Somebody. He remembered exactly who that song was for and what inspired him to write those lyrics — his wife, obviously — and when he decided it would be the last song he would write before focusing completely on running the new company.
He never imagined that it would soon reach the radio charts, so when he received that news, he was in euphoria. A song that had been written by him was in the charts!
It was unbelievable. Not in his wildest dreams did he dare think this would happen.
That was a new feeling, which momentarily brought the desire to write a new song:
Dare. He wouldn't sell that one, he usually did that with the songs that were most important to him, like
Tangerine and
Blooming Dream. Sometimes he would open the little box that held them and reread each letter and that made him feel good.
Well, now that little box had the three most important songs in his life, and there he told himself that it was final, Dare was the last one.
(Perhaps).
