The car slowed, and Lexie’s heart raced just a little faster. She could hear the faint buzz of the crowd outside, voices, cameras, flashes, all waiting.
Her stylist whispered softly,
“you’re ready,”
Then the door opened. The cool air brushed against her skin as she stepped out, the feathers of her dress brushing softly around her legs. For a heartbeat, everything felt still, and then, lights. So many lights. The flashes, the shouts, the music echoing in the distance.
The crowd’s cheers grew louder, fans calling her name, photographers urging her to pose. She turned gracefully, offering her best smile, the black feather gown moved like smoke around her legs, each movement commanding attention, each glance leaving a trail of admiration behind her.
