FÆME: Where Stories Become Statements
The day began in grayscale — plain backdrops, blank expressions, and the hum of fluorescent lights threatening to dissolve whatever soul I had left before breakfast. "Casting Clinic," they called it. A parade of potential. Raw, undone, unfiltered. It’s poetic in theory. In practice? It’s a hurricane of lint rollers, lukewarm coffee, and assistants chasing natural light like it’s a limited-time offer.
I had three of them today. Assistants, not lights. All exceptional. All just slightly out of sync with each other, which somehow balanced the chaos. They fussed over angles, lens choices, shirt wrinkles. I let them. It’s their craft, and I trust good obsession when I see it. I just stood still and tried not to blink too early.
Between helping shoot other members and slipping into frame myself, I forgot what it meant to be "off-guard." The final image — this one, the one you’re seeing — is what made the cut. Honest, clean, and a little too revealing for my taste. But maybe that’s the point. No masks yet. Just a pulse, a brow, a reach.
Esme — naturally — had notes. She thought I should’ve worn a mouse nose. Said it would’ve softened the tension in my jaw. She’s probably right. She often is. Maybe next time I’ll let the absurd in. Let it nibble at the edges of all this precision.
