she hated the hospital.
she hated the blindingly bright overhead lights in her room, the smell of utter cleanliness, and the ambient sounds of the machines. she had been brought here to be monitored. she'd slept for nearly a day and a half - her body was as exhausted as her mind.
acantha had chosen to have a rape kit done before receiving more care. the whole thing was a blur, though. she barely remembered the process even if she had consented to it. she knew that nothing was going to come of it, even if they figured out exactly who the men were. in that sort of business, people were professionals at evading the law. she wasn't so sure she was safe among her own people anymore.

and in her dreams, she waited for her dad to show up at any moment to wrap his arms around her and murmur to her that she was going to be okay.
and every time that she woke up from those dreams, it was only to remember that she was utterly alone, defeated, and demoralized.
she couldn't stay that way forever, but she needed to grieve, to mourn the fact that she was alone - even if she had tried to push past that again and again. she needed allies. she needed people she could rely on.
acantha needed to feel powerful and in control again and not like the little girl those monsters had made her feel she was.
