[8] - A table for one.

The weekend after Nadia received her acceptance letter to Oxford, she finally settled into her new home. The apartment, though small, was perfect for her; modern, with sleek furnishings and an understated elegance. The large windows framed a view of the street. It was a significant change from the chaos of her life in Istanbul, but it felt like her own sanctuary. Her bags were still scattered about, half-unpacked, but she didn’t mind; there was no rush to organize.

That Saturday evening, in a spirit of self-celebration, Nadia decided to treat herself to dinner at an upscale restaurant in the downtown London. Stepping inside, she was immediately enveloped in the warm glow of ambient lighting and the inviting aroma of gourmet cuisine wafting through the air. The soft music played in the background, mingling with the cheerful clink of glasses and laughter from fellow diners. She savored the moment, feeling a sense of pride swell within her for overcoming challenges and reaching this milestone.

Yet, beneath her exterior confidence, a quiet longing stirred in her heart... a small ache for companionship. She couldn't help but wish that her family, or at least a human who truly cared about her, could be sitting across the table, sharing in her joy. She knew that the world owed her nothing; and she was so accustomed to solitude and independence. Yes. From the outside, she appeared unstoppable, brimming with ambition; but inside, she was just a girl trying to navigate a new life away from everything she once knew. And after all, even the strongest ones would need a hug, sometimes.
