Pregnancy & Birth Checklist

When Alexis printed out the list, she thought it would be all business. Vitamins, doctor visits, baby clothes, car seats. Ezra, however, decided to treat it like a comedy routine.

''Pregnancy yoga?'' Alexis read aloud. As Ezra nodded solemnly, she avoided eye contact not to grin.

They ticked off ''baby names'' next, which turned into Ezra suggesting things like Laser and Pickle until Alexis nearly choked on her water.

Car seat shopping? Ezra sat in one at the store, declaring his approval. Alexis took a photo for blackmail material later. And how to choose the correct crib? He tried to lay down in one of them and she quickly walked away, pretending not knowing him.

Packing the hospital bag was no different. Alexis carefully folded nursing bras and swaddles. Ezra tossed in a Nerf gun and a deck of cards. His emergency entertainment. He had a grin on his face.

Through the laughter, the teasing, and their ridiculous suggestions, one thing stayed clear: they weren't just checking boxes. They were building memories. And as Alexis leaned back, she thought this kid was going to grow up in a house full of love, and plenty of laughter too.
