Birthday.

Chanelle’s birthday this year coincided with a week far from civilization, filled with demanding missions she had taken on. She was accompanied by her lover, Vincent, and a close friend; they had set out to solve mysteries and complete their tasks. Yet deep down, she felt a pang of sorrow, for the thought of a birthday passing without even blowing out a single candle weighed heavily on her heart. She would have given anything for a simple dinner at Eyrie with her loved ones. Instead, she found herself spending the day watching sandstorms and keeping an eye on the fuel gauge.

Perhaps that longing wore her down too much; her health suddenly failed, and she was forced to return to civilization. She had no idea of the surprises awaiting her. When Pam arrived at her door with an armful of gifts and two little kittens, Chanelle couldn’t contain her joy. It was, perhaps, the most beautiful gift she had ever received. Soon after, Darla appeared—wounded, yet carrying with her the strength of true friendship. The laughter and support of these two remarkable women warmed Chanelle’s heart once again.
