Mae is a lonely child, she lost her mother when she was 5 and her father is not a good person. He's an alcoholic and a violent man. She doesn't have any friend but Freddy, her imaginary friend. She talks to him all the time and for this reason some people think she's crazy. She also brings her stuffed rabbit with her everywhere. Her mother gave it to her when she was younger and it's the most precious thing she has.
