A gift inherited from past generations, thanks to "Father of City Light" J.D. Ross, public power began in Seattle with development of the first municipally owned hydro project in the U.S. at Cedar River. Hydroelectric power facilities now account for over 90% of Seattle power generation, providing 1,850 MW energy output toward the near 2,000 MW City total capacity.
