Y, por fin, mi sueño se hizo realidad.
Llevo desde los dieciséis años en este equipo, en el Harlem United. No siempre fui capitana, fui ascendiendo hasta que se me ofreció la oportunidad de liderar a mis compis y, cómo no, dije que sí. Era algo para lo que me veía capacitada, y siempre supe que quería llevar al equipo a lo más alto.
El camino no ha sido fácil... Más bien, lo contrario. Hemos luchado incesantemente durante todos estos años para poder tener nuestro lugar. Algunas temporadas no fueron las mejores; otras, nos dieron la oportunidad de fantasear con alcanzar la gloria. Pero nunca habíamos tocado esa medalla de oro con nuestros dedos. Eso se había reservado a nuestra imaginación.
Pero este año... ¡este año lo logramos! La medalla de oro es nuestra, y todo es gracias a los magníficos compañeros que tengo, que han luchado junto a mí sin tirar la toalla en ningún momento. ¡Somos campeones! Go Harlem!
And finally, my dream came true.
I've been on this team since I was sixteen, with Harlem United. I wasn't always the captain, I worked my way up until I was given the chance to lead my teammates and, of course, I said yes. It was something I felt ready for, and I always knew I wanted to take this team to the top.
The road hasn't been easy... Quite the opposite, really. We've fought tirelessly over the years to earn our place. Some seasons weren't our best; others gave us hope and allowed us to dream of glory. But we had never touched that gold medal with our own hands. That had always been left to our imagination.
But this year... this year we did it! The gold medal is ours! And it’s all thanks to the incredible teammates I have, who fought alongside me without ever giving up. We are champions! Go Harlem!
