Flashback - Part 1
It was a big house.
A Mansion.
Frank walked beside the social worker with the usual mix of anticipation, fear and mistrust.
The more foster homes he got to know the more the uncertainty grew he experienced each time.
One learned quickly to blend in. Memorized do's and don'ts , analyzed the threat potential of every foster family member, their trigger points, their space.
The more foster kids there were, the more difficult the navigation though a net of social tripwires, animosities and unspoken rules.
The rang of the door bell was dark, full and somehow soothing.
A wellgroomed man opened the door. Wearing some kind of uniform. He greeted the social worker and nodded towards Frank with an polite smile.
The young boy followed the adults in the house to a room with dark wooden walls, a big desk , bulky cupboards and shelfs loaded with books.
There was a well dressed and groomed man waiting for them.
And he did greet them.
Most importantly he greeted Frank first. Offering his hand and giving him a straight look out of crystal blue eyes.

Charles gasped and woke up from his flashback.
He had nodded off on the couch in Dave's Strandhus. He stared at his hand for a moment. That had been 14 years ago. He was a different person then, different name even. But the call he had received a few days ago had stirred up memories. He had buried them long time ago cause there was great pain attached to them. The phonecall had awakened them...
