They didn’t even knock
45 days before my due date
Ash and
Alex decided that they had had enough of each other and it was time to come out.
Not mad about it, since I could barely move around anymore, but the worries were there at the time. While I was freaking out,
my wonderful wife called our saint of a doctor, who reassured us that it was normal for twins to come out early and we had nothing to worry about.
Right from the start, the twins decided to be rebels (wonder who they got that from) and set their own pace.
Labor is not fun at all, don’t believe anyone who says otherwise. Contractions started during the evening, around 10pm I was admitted into the hospital, and Ash was born, kicking and screaming, at 11:55pm. Alex, on the other hand, decided that she would
absolutely not share her birthday with her brother, so she took her sweet time and came out at 12:13am.
I’m not one for sugarcoating anything: delivery was brutal. I think I even came up with new words and very colorful ways to cuss at everyone around me. No one was safe, but they took it kindly and with humor. Audrey was a trooper and she held me the whole time. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. If she laughed or smiled, I didn’t hear nor see it, which is for the best.
After all of that, they are finally here, and my heart expanded in a way I never thought possible. All of the incomprehensible love I hold for
Skye is now multiplied by three, and that’s not even counting the love and adoration I hold for my incredible wife, my person, my partner in life.
Baby, none of this would have been possible without you. You are the reason I soldiered on, and I feel so humbled that you trusted me with this.
I love all four of you with my whole heart.
Here they are! I’ll update you all when they look like tiny humans instead of potatoes.
